Go Cry, Emo Senator
The New Hampshire primaries are known for surprises, but the turn of fortunes that saw dark horse Hillary Clinton definitively carry the state was nothing short of historic. She wasn’t given a fighting chance in the Granite State given the multitude of polls that showed as much. Still, by Tuesday evening, she had emerged a winner. The sophisticated media polls were wrong. The early exit polls didn’t tell the whole story, either. Shows what you know, MSNBC.
The last 24 hours, I’ve been going over the events, puzzling over what turned the tide. Here’s what we know from the intense media coverage:
1) There was a record turnout.
2) Young voters seemed especially mobilized
3) Hillary Clinton (ostensibly) showed a little emotion when she choked back a tear (when asked how she remains “upbeat”).
Obama must have thought he’d struck gold when he got the Oprah endorsement. Leave it to a Clinton to out-oprah Oprah. So…Young voters? Responding to a candidate crying? This can mean only one thing: Emos will be the deciding factor in the 08 elections! Any candidates who value their candidacy had better set to work at coddling these eyepatch-wearing Hot Topic denizens.

Hillary makes us so happy we have to hurt ourselves
What can the candidates do to win the tears of the emo set? I have some suggestions. Candidates, read as though your political career depends on it (because it does).
Barack Obama: You’re really good at mobilizing upbeat, supportive crowds and hyping them up with vagueries like “change” and “new era”s. You see where that gets you: second place. I have 2 words for you: eye patch. Dark suits are one thing; your wardrobe should be black from the cuffs of your JT shirts to the soles of your solid black Special Edition Converse All-Stars. Start your rallies off with some bleak, grammatically obtuse poetry. Trust me–your nomination hinges on this important demographic!
Ron Paul: You have an advantage: your ability to attract masses of disenfranchised misfits. The only problem is they tend to be berzerker antisemites, 40-year old anti-global anarchists and other assorted nutjob troublemakers. To snag the key voting bloc in this election, you need to find a way to grab the attention of disenfrancised young adults who cut themselves for emotional validation. Court the endorsement of Gerard Way. Explain how unilateral withdrawal from Iraq is best because no one understands us and, therefore, the world hates our troops. Make them understand that the dismantling of the Federal Reserve will help stabilize our currency, thereby ensuring market forces won’t artificially inflate the cost of razor blades. Ignore this advice at your own peril!
Mike Huckabee: First, Mike, you really have to do something about the name. “Huckabee” invokes the visage of a blue 60s Hanna-Barbera cartoon dog with an unflattering Southern accent. This is the last thing to which an emo can relate. I suggest “Mikey Heartbreak”. You’re welcome. Also, you have to stop playing bass with classic rock bands covering “Proud Mary” and “Born to be Wild”. If you’re serious–really serious–about owning this coveted emo interest group, you should have your campaign manager hook up a set with Atreyu. Look down the whole time.

I could go on. Fred Thompson could tell his supporters about how he hurts himself between takes on the set of Law and Order because “pain is all that’s real”. John Edwards could talk about how lonely it is being a quadrillionaire lawyer with a cancer patient spouse. You get the picture.
Candidates, you owe it to yourselves and your supporters to get out to the mall food courts of America and snag as many pastey, leg warmer-clad dopes aged 18 and up to support your campaign. Now get out there and Mope the Vote!

I guess I’m not the only one that thinks “Huckabee” sounds like the retarded neigbohood sheriff.

You have made it your lifetime ambition, that in the name of peace, you want “bitch slap ” someone ?

Its O.K for my violence because its justified by what I believe. But your willingness to be violent is not justified based on what you believe.
I wanted to bitch slap Saddam when he mongerd war against Kuwait and his own people. And the same goes for Bin Laden when he rallied for the death of all westerners. And Ahmajinidad when said he wanted Israel wiped off the map.

I suppose u til you’ve lived under the thumb of American diplomatic and military aggression it’s easy not to see the other side of things. There was a time that we were the strongest and most free nation on earth. This was before the electorate developed the kind of myopia that has doomed great societies in the past. You see, without the freedom, the strength is merely the aggression of a schoolyard bully crying out for attention. I gues though when you lack good ideas it’s best to makes some noise and drop some bombs….my bad.

naw, I love it. It’s the perpetually misguided assholes running things I hate. Of course calling them misguided connotates erroneous behaviour, when in fact they are doing it intentionally. Fortunately for them the electorate is either ignorant, jaded, or to busy to give a damn. Let me ask this. Do you really think the war in Iraq makes America stronger, freer or safer? Do you believe what we do their now will have a lasting impact on the quest for democracy in the region when we leave?

21 Jan 08 at 4:48 pm
I dont think its about hearts and minds at all. It certainly wasnt for cheaper oil.
I think, and it seems rather obvious that we went there to set up shop and keep an eye on these assholes.
As long as only 4 or 5 years ago plans for the largest American embassey were drawn up and the fuckers almost done now. I believe Saddam needed to go. And we had numerous justifiable reasons to kick him out. The price tag is having to put Iraq back together and get that clusterfuck up and running on republic or democratic terms.
The best anaology I could come up with is that we just intentinally planted our asses right smack in the middle of the hornets nest so we could watch and react to the bitches a little better.
I think it will work out. But like anything , as generations go on and on everything takes longer to do. I cant even get my pants hemmed up in a day anymore.
the demographics and cultural aspect in that region will always make for 3 steps forward and 2 back

There’s one swift answer to the Talaiban/Al Quada scenario: tactical nuclear weapons.
The size of one’s ‘gun’ is what separates the men from the baboons these days.
And if we’ve got the ‘big one’ then we have to demonstrate it’s use from time to time.
Nuke ‘em til they glow — then nuke ‘em again.
From one who can still smell the stink of WTC in the Catskills,
Roger Thornhill
Roger Thornhill
22 Jan 08 at 3:43 am
@ Roger: I don’t know if a nuke is necessarily the way to go. (I wouldn’t want to harm Israel and other American interests like oil deposits in adjacent countries with fallout.) I do know that if we’d been more serious and gone in kicking ass from the start, we’d be further along in Iraq. I never saw Iraq as a hotbed of terror. I think Bush saw an opportunity to establish a presence in the Middle East (and endow buddies like KBR and Haliburton with no-bid contracts, of course.)
I do know this: Muslim terrorists don’t respond to diplomacy. Arafat was offered every concession he wanted at Camp David a few years back…and he walked away, because it meant the PLO/PA would have to stop bombing Jews. The only thing they seem to respect is overwhelming force. This is why a bus bombing in Tel Aviv is met with the demolition of a city block in Palestine. It took nearly 5 years to get it together in Iraq. Now that we’re fighting in the manner in which we should have fought all along–surprise, we’re getting things done!
Soylent Ape
22 Jan 08 at 7:12 am
Sorry, Roger: I noticed you said tactical nuclear weapons. I can get behind that. If you want to isolate a target and show you mean business, why not? Just try to keep fallout to a minimum–use a small charge. While you’re at it, get a rein on Iran. Pakistan already has a nuke–we don’t need another Islamic country with one.

sometimes its as simple as the dog you know vs. the dog you don’t. Saddam wasn’t a great friend of ours, but he kept his particular assholes under control. Granted he used weapons of mass destruction that he didn’t possess to do so. I think GHW Bush had it right. When he leaves his borders knock him back. What were doing now is a wasteful expenditure of assets with no true hope of having a lasting impact on the region shy of perpetually maintaining a massive troop presence in the country.

“On Feb. 5, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell came before the United Nations Security Council and laid out the Bush administration’s case against Iraq. As a hushed chamber listened intently, Secretary Powell detailed a web of evidence against Saddam Hussein’s regime.”
Powell’s argument could be divided into two main tracks. The first centered on the premise that Iraq had to face the penalties for having flouted numerous Security Council resolutions. “Last Nov. 8, this council passed Resolution 1441 by a unanimous
vote,” the secretary said. “The purpose of that resolution was to disarm Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction. Iraq had already been found guilty of material breach of its obligations, stretching back over 16 previous resolutions and 12 years.”
“Iraq has now placed itself in danger of the serious consequences called for in U.N. Resolution 1441. And this body places itself in danger of irrelevance if it allows Iraq to continue to defy its will without responding effectively and immediately.”
While the Security Council has passed a series of resolutions concerning Iraq over the past 12 years, only one explicitly authorized the use of force. Resolution 678, passed on Nov. 29, 1990, authorized member states to “use all necessary means to uphold and implement Resolution 660 (1990) and all subsequent relevant resolutions and to restore international peace and security in the area.”
April 16 2003.
Saddam was found to be violating oil for food programs by selling the food received in exchange for oil for cash. His country was starving so he could build anther mansion/palace.
This was a violation of peace treaties enacted after the first gulf war, it is also an act of war and justification for disbanding the Iraqi leadership.
http://shotsacrossthebow.com/archives/001591.html
More Iraqi violations…
found here.
Before the war, Syria was said to be receiving as much as 200,000 b/d of oil through the pipeline, paying as much as $1 billion/year to Iraq, making it the single largest source of revenue for Baghdad outside the UN’s oil-for-aid program.
But the US action put an end to that arrangement, ending Washington’s formerly benign policy towards Syria’s illicit imports of Iraqi oil.

1. Elected Democrats like Reid and Pelosi have no loyalty to the Current Military Personal who are in harms way, or they would make sure they have funding no matter what.
2. President Clinton had little loyalty to the Military, or Iraqi forces firing on U.S. Pilots would not have continued into the 2000.
3. Iran attacking our Military Personal is not acceptable.
Revisiting these historical facts should drive home the point that Saddam was in violation of the terms under which we spared him after liberating Kuwait — with or without WMDS and with our without ties to Al Qaeda.
Clinton would have been well justified to invade Iraq at just about any time during his second term — problem is Clinton lacked the courage to do what really needed to be done (and instead attacked Yugoslavia.)

Operation Northern Watch enforces the no-fly zone north of the 36th parallel in Iraq and monitors Iraqi compliance with UN Security Council resolutions 678, 687, and 688. The United States and the United Kingdom provide about 45 aircraft and more than 1,400 personnel to support the operation.
Operation Southern Watch enforces the no-fly zone south of the 33rd parallel in Iraq and monitors compliance with United Nations Security Council Resolutions 687, 688, and 949. The United States and the United Kingdom provide about 150 aircraft and 6,000 forces to support the operation.
All of the above were acts of war and aggression against the U.S.
Not even mentioning the thousands og human rights violations taking place on a daily basis.
All were violations of peace treaties enacted after the first gulf war/Kuwait invasion.
George W. Bush never claimed to have been to Iraq. Rather, both he and Tony Blair deferred to intelligence reports and, at the same time, complained that their sources were limited by the fact that Saddam would not allow inspections under the agreements that ended the Gulf War; nor would he respect numerous UN mandates to allow unrestricted monitoring.
Though rare, there are some in the world who allege that Bush knew the reports were wrong (in some mysterious fashion), but went to war under false pretenses anyway. This would certainly qualify as a lie, but it also defies common sense and probably speaks to the ignorance, delusion, or dishonesty of the person making such an assertion.
Saddam was also paying Palestinian suicide bombers families $25,000 ea. to go into Afghanistan and blow up Americans, this was most definitely an act of war. ———————————————–

Saddam Pays 25K for Palestinian Bombers
Tuesday, March 26, 2002
By Ken Layne
Saddam Hussein is paying $25,000 to the relatives of Palestinian suicide bombers — a $15,000 raise much welcomed by the bombers’ families. In Tulkarm, one of the poorest towns on the West Bank, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council handed out the checks from Saddam. The payments have been made for at least two years, but the amount has suddenly jumped up by $15,000 — a bonus for the families of martyrs, to reward those taking part in the escalating war against Israel. Paul McGeough, reporting from the West Bank, was the only foreign correspondent in the hall Monday night when a Palestinian official handed out the checks. McGeough’s story in today’s Sydney Morning Herald describes a very hellish twist on the Academy Awards: The men at the top table then opened Saddam’s checkbook and, as the names of 47 martyrs were called, family representatives went up to sign for checks written in U.S. dollars. (Story continues , click on the link )Below are some more obtrusive notes that never seem to hit the mainstream medis. Written in Dec 2006. Does anyone recall seeing this on your evening news ? But I’m sure you got a good shot of all the mourning mothers screaming over the body of their son that was killed by some insurgent, and I’ll bet you’ve seen your share of crying babies on Baghdad sidewalks.
Those are facts CRICKET !

So fuck it right ? Just let him shoot at us 1600 more times right /
I make perfect sense because you just prooved my point on the mentallity of the left.
Worry about it later. deal with it when it happens. Cross that bridge when we get there.
You can still be shot at by them, and you can still have warped political convictions.
I just debated a 2 tour vet who was trying to convince me and everyone in the country to buy buy military grade weapons and flack jackets.
Nothing says that because you served you are sane.
But you are thanked and honored by me. And I support you and the mission even if you did not support the mission.
My main point from the beggining was that we are there to prevent future bullshit and establish a base. Saddam may not of been that big a threat to the contonental US. But he gave us all the right reasons and or excuses to do what we did. He made it very easy and convinient to make our case.

fact: the iraqi’s went 0 for 1600.
fact: we have never improved the status of democracy in the muslim world…remember, kuwait was a monarchy, not a democracy.
fact playing fast and loose with the truth in front of the United Nations is at this point a matter of public record.
fact: you are quite tense

“Cricket fact: saddam Hussein was a powerful secular leader in the middle east”
So what ?
“Cricket fact: the iraqi’s went 0 for 1600.”
Frankly this was a just stupidity and the kind of bullshit spewing you say only comes from the right on Clintons part.
Clintons administration was reluctant because they did not believe that they could make a rock solid criminal case against Osama. The Democratic leadership and Bill Clinton himself, vehemently deny this in spite of the evidence released in the 9/11 Commission Report.
Michael Scheuer, the CIA agent in charge of hunting bin Laden in Afghanistan states in a story by CBS News “that the CIA had more opportunities to capture or kill bin Laden that has been reported previously. He says there were 10 such chances between May 1998 and May 1999. It was not clear who decided not to take those chances.”
“In May of 1998, after months of planning, officials called off a CIA plan to have Afghan allies capture bin Laden and send him out of Afghanistan for trial. The plan was apparently scrapped because of worries about the chance of killing bystanders, and even bin Laden himself, as well as concerns over the strength of the legal evidence against bin Laden.” (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/08/10/terror/
Clinton National Security Advisor Sandy Berger also refused to authorize several strikes against bin Laden according to documents released by the 9/11 Commission. A document dated December 4, 1999, the National Security Council’s counterterrorism coordinator, Richard Clarke, sent Mr. Berger a memo suggesting a strike in the last week of 1999 against Al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan. Reports the commission: “In the margin next to Clarke’s suggestion to attack Al Qaeda facilities in the week before January 1, 2000, Berger wrote, ‘no.’ ” (NY Sun July 23, 2004)
So was it President Clinton who refused to authorize Tenet, Clarke and Berger to give the go ahead to nix bin Laden? Dick Morris, Clinton’s chief political strategist, said that there were at least three times that Clinton refused to give that authorization that he knows of. The military officer who carries the nuclear football (who also carries the presidential mobile phone), Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson, who wrote a book about this very subject titled Dereliction of Duty, said in interviews that “in December 1996 with bombers and fighters in the air, Berger called the President through me and the president, knowing what the call was about, refused to take Berger’s call. Berger was getting angry at me because I couldn’t get an answer out of the president.”
Patterson spoke of another time in 1998 “a cruise missile strike was planned against bin Laden and we had a two hour window. Berger was in the situation room, in the first hour after Berger called the president, Clinton refused to talk to him or return his call. In the second hour Clinton decided to debate the issue with Berger, Madeline Albright and Secretary Cohen.” “I saw this situation happen over and over and over again. The president didn’t like making decisions like that,” says Patterson.
According to former Democratic fund raiser Mansoor Ijaz, “from 1996 to 1998, I opened unofficial channels between Sudan and the Clinton administration. I met with officials in both countries, including Clinton, U.S. National Security Advisor Samuel R. “Sandy” Berger and Sudan’s president and intelligence chief. President Omar Hassan Ahmed Bashir offered the arrest and extradition of Bin Laden and detailed intelligence data about the global networks constructed by Egypt’s Islamic Jihad, Iran’s Hezbollah and the Palestinian Hamas. Among those in the networks were the two hijackers who piloted commercial airliners into the World Trade Center. The silence of the Clinton administration in responding to these offers was deafening. As an American Muslim and a political supporter of Clinton, I feel now, as I argued with Clinton and Berger then, that their counter-terrorism policies fueled the rise of Bin Laden from an ordinary man to a Hydra-like monster.” (LA Times December 5 2001)
Former FBI Director Louis Freeh said in his book, My FBI, and in multiple interviews, that after the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, Clinton refused to ask Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to allow the FBI to interrogate bombing suspects the Saudi’s had in custody. Freeh writes, “Bill Clinton raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudis’ reluctance to cooperate and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library.” Says Freeh, “That’s a fact that I am reporting.”
FACT!
Cricket fact: “we have never improved the status of democracy in the muslim world…remember, kuwait was a monarchy, not a democracy.”
I never said we were out to do that. As a matter of fact I said it was for anything but.
Cricket fact; ” playing fast and loose with the truth in front of the United Nations is at this point a matter of public record.”
Fuck the United nations, they did not have the final say on whether we were to go to war or not. But 21 other countries there did agree with the intelligence.
As a matter of fact it was up to the congress, which almost all voted yes on. Including the right.
Cricket fact: “you are quite tense”
And you have come undone.
Cricket fact:” I’m not a liberal, merely a free thinking open minded individual who has trouble tolerating the bullshit spewing from my fellow conservatives vis a vis the situation in Iraq.”
Is this actually Ron Paul I’m speaking to ?
I’d worry more about the bullshit spewing from the left. Sinced the right side of the mind is controlled by the left side of the brain, this explains it all.
Cricket; “why keep score Bagel…he can take 1600 shots at me and never score a hit.”
“Hey cruiser dude, you think that guy that shot at you 1600 times will be a significant threat one day?” Uh, I dont know man, lets wait and see. :-)

Excuse my exuberance cricket. that long ass post was meant to show you just how full of shit Bill and the left were. Now “THAT” is an example of BULLSHIT !
And its first hand info bro.
The right did something before it got worse. Period
Bill should of taken the opportunity and moved in on saddam earlier Nailing Bin Laden I’m sure would of been alot easier.
Personally, I would of kicked out Saddam during the first gulf war.
Buit you display your arrogant idiocy when you argue that Saddam was the most secular power in the middle east. Actually thinking that was a good thing shows me where your head is at, and it must stink to high heavens up there.

You know what fuck head.
i was actually trying to have a somewhat civil debate with you. As I promised the blog owners I would do. The only reason I held back on letting you know what an insignificant piece of shit you are is because I wanted the debate to carry to a point of relevance and clarity before it all got obscured by the kind of bullshit and insults you just ran off like a fuckin punk. I said some smart ass things that were more funny than insulting. And they were relevant to the subject. But your last post was not connected to anything but personal attack. And that is where the debate stops . And its a clear sign of frustration when your opponent starts doing that. When the only thing they can do is completely change subjects and go for low blows.
The bottom line is this.
You still only have your warped opinion and some sick fucking idea that anyone should just take your word for it because you say so.
Your shit is inconclusive and worthless in trying to find any agreements or answers.
I have to go outside now and scrape the shit off the bottom of my shoes.
See ya later..

Cricket;
” Do you really think the war in Iraq makes America stronger, freer or safer? Do you believe what we do their now will have a lasting impact on the quest for democracy in the region when we leave?”
Cricket;
“What problem do you have with no visible value? are you one of those who believes we are safer than we were before the war? ”
Cricket;
“I ask these because when I asked you questions relevant you failed to answer them”
Above are the only two questions you asked, which were answerd, but not by the obligatory “yes” or “No” answer that would of made you comfortable.
This all started because I found your wanting to bitch slap McCain rather autocratic and hypocritical.
The past discusion has proven me right.
Your attack on a man is justified only because you believe he does not have the right to run for president because he is a war monger. Yet you will impose the same thing upom him that you protest.
that would be the hypocrite part.
You expect me or whoever else to trust you and believe you and take your word as gospel. With no verification or fact or document to base your claims on.
That would be the autocratic part
Smooth move ex lax.
So your next and probably smartest thing you could think of was to dedicate a post that served no purpose but act like a punk bitch who could not get her way.
If you could of somehow proved your point or maybe had me conciede to your views you would of actually humbled me.
but you failed miserably.
I’ve been called worse names in blogs, and had worse things said to me. If you think I’m not used to it or that you actually hurt my feelings you truly are misguided.
I am no angel either, but the fact here is that you dont have any.

Except for the typical elitest escape route that sounds like a stuck up cheerleader thumbing her nose at all the girls. When in reality she knows she is an idiot.
Not worth the time nor effort?
Yet you still post. That would be the hypocrite part I mentioned.
