Every now and then, there comes a band that has an effect like audio crack, except with slightly less-harmful effects on pregnant women. Their choruses demand that we sing along. Their catchy rhythms compel us to beat on the dashboard like the monkeys we all are deep inside. Hearing their songs helps endorphin junkies like us “get well”. North Carolina’s Sullivan is one such band. Damn them and their will-breaking rock!
But having perfectly-crafted alt-rock with irresistible pop melodies, commanding rhythms and hooks aplenty goes only so far with us at Ration Reality. To reach the station of Ration Reality Band of the Month, you gotta bring the funny. You can see in these YouTube-captured clips the band make fun of geeks waiting in line to buy the latest Wizards and Warcraft release (including their own guitarist), trash-talking the “city” of Virginia Beach and setting unsuspecting youths up for a $5/day Willy Wonka habit. If that’s not enough, they’ve become advocates for the dangerous new activity known as “Van Moshing“, or “Voshing” as the kids call it.
With all the post-music, scene-core posturing from contemporary rock bands, it’s refreshing to see that there’s a band out there that doesn’t take themselves so seriously. That’s why we’re happy to name Sullivan as Ration Reality Band of the Month.

We are still accepting nominations for September.

I’d hit the lead singer like he owed me money.
Kvn: You’d best wear your fightin shoes. There’s alot of fan girls between you and Brooks.
They have a second guitarist named Jeremy now. He and Phil (drummer) and Brooks have some voodoo mojo thing going for teenage girls. It’s wild!
